The Wireless Neighborhood

Well, well, well, I stand corrected (see yesterday's post). A number of cities in the US have plans in the works to create urban area wireless connectivity grids. In fact, Philadelphia appears to be th closest to making it a reality. Will it be coming to a neighborhood near you? Read more about it here. Now, if I can find a 2lb laptop with a 15' screen and 8 hours of battery life . . . hmmmmmm.

I am fortunate to be living in the first wireless city in the nation. Not bad to be sitting on the beach or on my boat working on a client's site...

Newark1,
I have wireless internet using Cingular and an aircard. I pretty much get connected with my lap top from anywhere in the US that a cell phone would receive reception. Cingular bounces off the cell towers. Its a monthly fee but I love it.

Reciently my family traveled 600 miles and I worked using the internet the majority of the trip. You hold the signal hundreds of miles occassionally loosing connection and needing to allow the technology to find a new tower.

Thanks - Karen
