A New York State of Mind

Paris, My Love - web design

Well, tonight I fly from Phoenix, Arizona to New York City, returning to the place where my career as a web designer began. Much has happened in the ten years since I first started my tiny web design studio in downtown Newark. My first paying client was a small local savings bank in Newark, NJ. One of the bank executives had seen a web site I created as a personal travelogue of a recent visit to Paris, France. My fascination with that city had moved me to create "Paris, My Love" a collection of my photography, travel tips and observations from this glorious city. That website was selected by Netscape.com (which was the Google of that day, the most popular site online) as "Website of the Week" As a result, "Paris, My Love" was getting more than 60,000 visitors per day, generating a ton of email and kudos. The tag line from my site had its 15 minutes of fame: "Can a man love a city the way he loves a woman? I can. I do. My Love, my beautiful Paris!"

People started asking if I build websites professionally. Of course, I said yes! The clients kept coming and Newark1 Web Design Portfolio & Guide was born. "Paris, My Love," and Netscape began a career that has lasted over ten years! You can see the original "Paris, My Love" website here. I am eager to see what the next ten years hold as I step into the next chapter of my career in "The Big Apple!" See you there!
