Only one square mile in size, Hoboken is a town right across the river from New York City. Cheap and frequent public transportation to NYC is available from practically any part of Hoboken 24 hours a day. The PATH trains ($1.50) link Hoboken to New York (World Trade Center, Christopher Street, 9th St., 14th St., 23 St, and 33rd St.), Newark, and Jersey City (Newport, Exchange Place, Journal Square, Grove St). There are also buses to 42nd St. and 8th Ave. (Port Authority) run by Academy Line ($1.25) and New Jersey Transit ($1.50) that stop on every alternate block on Washington St. During peak hours, bus service is also available along Willow Ave. and Clinton St.

Over the years, Hoboken has evolved from its industrial roots, and now supports a large community of professionals, artists, musician, and others who choose to have free access to the big apple, but opt for the added security and conveniences (and lower rents, taxes, etc.) that Hoboken can provide. It is also home to a number of schools, as well as a college campus. These add their own flavor to the environment. A large number of restaurants, bars, and night spots cater to Hoboken's lively and diverse denizens. There are a number of cultural events, street fairs and performances through out the year. Besides all this, Hoboken can boast of being the birthplace of baseball, as well as the birthplace of Frank Sinatra.
