Color has such an expresive emotional palette. Choosing colors with the right emotional message can greatly enhance your web design. What emotions do you see expressed in the colors used in this web design below?

In designing this web page we wanted clean, fresh colors that speak of the gentle renewal and relaxation that a day at the spa can provide. Selecting the best colors was easy. They already existed in this warm, relaxing photograph of the reclined woman. We merely "borrowed" them for the rest of the web page. Limiting the color palette to one already existing in the main photograph also added to the compelling simplicity of the web design.
The tan and aqua colors work well together forming a clean, simple, fresh design. This design reveals one of my favorite methods of arriving at a color palette for my web design projects. Often, the most prominent photo or graphic used may contain all the color choices you need for developing the supporting design elements. Simply select one or two colors from the photo, adjust them to your satisfaction and use tastefully. It will often come together as a very unified, polished, and emotion packed design.
