Building Gift Naming Opportunities page 1 The Conservancy Building $1,000,000 Built in 1890, the Conservancy Building was placed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places in 1990. Used as a synagogue from 1890 to 1939, it was then home to the Metropolitan Baptist Congregation from 1940 until 1993, when it was vacated and sat unused for three years. The Conservancy purchased the building in 1995 and has completed exterior restorations. A gift of $1,000,000 will name the building and forever associate your name with the vision, leadership and success of the Greater Newark Conservancy. Lower Floor Gift Naming Opportunities The Cafe $200,000 Exploring the Urban Wildlife Gallery, smelling the basil in the Herb Gardens and climbing the Tree House Observatory will make a person hungry! The Conservatory will provide a cafe for visitors to the Urban Environmental and Ecological Center as well as a catering facility for large group functions. The Gift Shop $150,000 Growing and selling plants, flowers and shrubs will provide the Conservancy with an important revenue source. The commercial Nursery, with a separate entrance on Prince Street, will employ 5-6 people, most graduates of our own Job Training program. The Apartment $50,000 In keeping with the Conservancy's education goals, an apartment with two bedrooms and a kitchen has been incorporated into the design of the building to accommodate student interns who will work and live at the Conservatory during the summer months. The Safety & Security Office $35,000 Located on the lower level, the Security Office will provide 25 hr. on site security for the Conservancy Building and the Outdoor Learning Center. The security office, with video and computer technology will be able to monitor the entire campus for security and fire threats. The Horticultural Office $35,000 The Horticultural Office will house the Landscape Architect and the Horticulturist who manage the nursery and all the horticultural programs at the Center.
