Free Fonts for Web Designers

WEB DESIGNERS do not have much choice in selecting fonts for body text (paragraphs of html text) in WEB DESIGN. You are limited to the venerable typefaces common to all computer platforms: Times Roman, Verdana, Helvetica and Arial. However, when selecting fonts that are to be used graphically as titles, logos, etc, we are not as limited. There is a rich supply of fonts available.

Not all fonts work well on the Web. Especially at smaller point sizes, many italic and serif fonts cannot be rendered clearly by computer screens. Given that limitation, there is still much to choose from.

We found a website that features a hand-selected short list of HIGH QUALITY FREEWARE FONTS. These are free downloadable Truetype fonts that can be used on both pc and mac computers. The designer who manages this website has great taste, and has compiled a list of fonts that are eminently tasteful, timeless and appropriate for just about any web design project that comes to mind. This is a great resource for any designer looking for a good typeface for their next project!
