A New York City Real Estate Landmark Is For Sale
New York city's biggest commercial real estate landlords are all set to bid on one of the most desirable commercial properties now on the market. The Jehovah’s Witnesses office and factory complexes in Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights (Brooklyn, NY). Vornado Realty Trust, Silverstein Properties, L&L Holding and Taconic Investment Partners are all among the bidders, requesting detailed statements about the properties and signing confidentiality agreements, according to a report by Bloomberg News. Dozens of other firms based in the US and abroad are also inquiring. “The market as a whole is looking at this transaction as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Ofer Cohen, president of TerraCRG, told Bloomberg Business. “Every Manhattan office player is going to bid on this asset.” The combined properties are estimated to sell for over $900 Million.
How Long Will the Nashville Real Estate Boom Last?
Young, college educated homebuyers are entering the Nashville, TN real estate market for its combination of appealing lifestyle amenities and lower than average home prices. That talent pool is attracting businesses to Nashville as well. According to the Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2016 report, the Urban Land Institute and accounting/consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers ranked Nashville among the nation's top 10 real estate markets to watch this year. University of Madison-Madison mechanical engineers are developing a footwear based energy harvester that produces electrical power as we walk. "The technology could enable a footwear-embedded energy harvester that captures energy produced by humans during walking and stores it for later use." - news.wisc.edu “Human walking carries a lot of energy,” Krupenkin says. “Theoretical estimates show that it can produce up to 10 watts per shoe, and that energy is just wasted as heat. A total of 20 watts from walking is not a small thing, especially compared to the power requirements of the majority of modern mobile devices.” This could be of great value to people in remote areas and in developing countries.
Will the Concorde Rise Again?
Long considered the epitome of luxury travel, the Concorde offered supersonic international air travel for well-heeled customers. Its first commercial flight was in January 1976, and it retired from service in 2003. Well loved by aircraft enthusiasts, there are plans to resurrect the aircraft for charter travel and airshows. Airbus and Lockheed are both developing new supersonic aircraft that will lessen the sonic boom that led to the retirement of the Concorde.
